Revolutionary reminder

2009.11.03
Every time I pass this little cemetery I tell myself I need to stop and take pictures. So today I did.

It's this tiny little corner and on it is a cemetery and memorial to the first WW.

Original graves.

New graves

Aurt, Luke and Abraham all fought in the Revolution with their dad.

It's maintained by the DAR.

dontblink Every time we go to the lake to visit family we pass by a cemetary where Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox) is buried. I always think of stopping but guess to anxious to get to the lake. Maybe I'll take your example.

itch4travel A really great series Webs....I like reading the tombstones because you think about how they lived and their families after they were gone.

Tulpje Not many graves while so many died, fascinating.

websterella It's a private family plot not a battle field plot, so it was probably not far from the family home. You'd have to imagine this was a vast farm and nearby was a family homestead.
